Wislene and Kenley Family Visit

Wow! I can’t believe we are already into the new year. We got busy with school and the holidays and time has gone by. Jeff and I were ready to get back into family visits and our first one in a while was great! We got to visit two of our kids and saw some amazing examples of God’s love and faithfulness.

Our first visit was Wislene. Wislene is about to be 4 years old. Her mother works for us and she recently had a baby. We were excited to see the new baby and to talk with her mom about what is going on in their family. The baby is healthy and growing and the family is doing well. Mom asked us to pray for God’s protection on their family. Mom grew up in a family that practices voodoo. She does not want that kind of life for her family. She asked us to pray that her family will be different. She wants her children to know God and serve Him. Please pray for them and ask God to make them a light to mom’s family in darkness.

Our second visit was to Kenley. Kenley is 3 years old and he lives with his grandmother. His mother died recently from an illness at a very young age. When we arrived at their house Kenley was asleep in bed because he has been sick. Kenley’s grandmother began singing It Is Well With My Soul. Then she prayed for Jeff and I. She told us how she loved God and how he had protected her. She told us when her daughter was sick the people in the community told her to go to the voodoo priest and have them help her but she refused. She put her trust in God even though her daughter died. She now trust God daily to provide for her and Kenley. She does not have a job but she tries to sell things to make money. She has the most beautiful plants and flowers around her house. She really has a talent for growing things. She asked us to pray for Kenley to get well and for God to show her how to provide for him. Please pray for them and ask God to encourage her in her. Her confidence in God was an example to me.

Thank you for your prayers for our Hope Rising students and their families. Prayer is the greatest power we have here in Haiti.

For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil. I Peter 3:12
