We’re All in this Together

One thing I have been so encouraged by in Haiti is the way other organizations work together to accomplish the most for God’s Kingdom.  In the states I would see many organizations, churches, ministries, all competing not collaborating. Just this week we have worked with 5 other organizations that I can think of off the top of my head.  All different denominations but working for the same Savior as one body.   God does not need any of us to accomplish His will, but He desires to us all of us.  Romans 12:4-5 “For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”  Did you notice we do not have the same function?  We are members of each other.  We are not created to function alone, but together.  God doesn’t need us, but we do need each other to function as God designed. I am reminded alot of the song “Family of God” that we use to sing at the end of every church service when I was growing up.  I looked up the lyrics today and noticed the verses which I had never heard before….

I’m so glad I’m a part of the Family of God,
I’ve been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
The Family of God.

You will notice we say “brother and sister” ’round here,
It’s because we’re a family and these are so near;
When one has a heartache, we all share the tears,
And rejoice in each victory in this family so dear.

I’m so glad I’m a part of the Family of God,
I’ve been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
The Family of God.

From the door of an orphanage to the house of the King,
No longer an outcast, a new song I sing;
From rags unto riches, from the weak to the strong,
I’m not worthy to be here, but praise God I belong!

I’m so glad I’m a part of the Family of God,
I’ve been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I’m part of the family,
The Family of God

Are we sharing tears? Are we rejoicing in others victories or becoming jealous of them?  This life was not given to us to be an individual sprint, but a relay race with many runners working together.  Are you working with others? Is your church? Is your ministry?  Lets put aside our denominational difference and further the Kingdom as one body of Christ. After all, Christ only has one body.  If you are not working in it, you are working against it.
